Villas Rio Mar:

Set on the banks of the Baru river only 500 meters from the beach and surrounded by impressive tropical forests, the jungle resort Villas Río Mar awaits you with a tradition of true hospitality. Kick back and relax amidst gardens in one of our 40 large thatched roof bungalows with open terrace-like living rooms, junior suites with King-size beds, bathrooms with hot water and hair dryer, safety box, fans, a mini bar and of course...a hammock!

Our unique and beautiful "palenque" restaurant serves international and local specialities that will surprise even the most discriminating gourmets. At our cozy bar, you will find a variety of delicious tropical cocktails.

Villas Río Mar is the perfect spot for an active vacation. We have horses, mountain bikes, kayaks, river tubes, as well as snorkelling and fishing equipment. From behind the resort, hiking trails lead into the jungle up the mountains, offering you spectacular views of the rugged coastline.

The extensive grounds of the resort are a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers alike. Don't be surprised to find a toucan perched on your private terrace early in the morning.

For those working on their suntan, we have a large swimming pool with a jacuzzi and swim-up bar to cool down.

If you are into sports, Villas Río Mar is the place to be! Though still a friendly small village, Dominical is a world famous hotspot for surfing. The resort itself has tennis, basketball and volleyball courts.

We have also thought about your children! The playground and game room with table tennis, pool, table football, satellite TV/video and darts will keep them busy and give you a break.

There is also an open air Conference Center hidden in the jungle, fitting up to eighty, and ideal for nature and health oriented meetings and seminars.

We challenge the adventurous and brave to a great array of trips within the vicinity of the resort.

At the Private Reserve Hacienda Barú, guided hikes of varying degrees of difficulty take you deep into the jungle.

Our tour desk is happy to organize white water rafting and deep sea fishing trips.

Several daytrips include the following national parks: Corcovado-Drake Bay, Isla del Caño, Ballena Marine Park and Manuel Antonio.

A trip to Costa Rica's most impressive waterfalls. the Nauyaca, at only five kilometers from the resort is "almost compulsory" for every visitor to Costa Rica.

Villas Río Mar is situated 35 km from the town of San Isidro del General on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, a short walk form the village of Domincal and the unspoiled beaches.

It is a three and half hour drive on a good paved road from San José through an incredible landscape containing several microclimates and varied flora.
