Guanacaste is the newly developing area that the government hopes will rival Hawaii as a destination in the future and is quite a bit drier than the Central Valley with temperatures similar to the Central Pacific. The Pan American Highway takes you near most areas but some of the roads require 4 wheel drive in certain seasons. This area tends to be more expensive than the rest of the country but still way below the prices of Hawaii. This is the area the rich young Costa Ricans like best. |
